Living in Utah...

Having lived in Utah for over 25 years now, I have worked really hard now to "pick up" Utah's accent...What's funny is people from Utah think they don't have an accent, but they do! The Utah accent is really hard to reproduce in print but it's kind of like a choppier version of a Valley Girl accent...Mountain = Mau-en, Clinton = Cli-en...and pillow, milk, crayon, and mirror = pellow, melk, cren, and meer. Every once in a while I catch myself saying something like "Oh my heck" and think "Oh no! It's happening" so I was quiet pleased when I took this survey & found that I don't have an accent!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I got the same result as you on that test. Living away from Utah I can now really recognize the Utah accent and take it as a compliment when people here say I don't have it. But, I do get people in Utah telling me I have a southern accent, people here would disagree.
